The invention relates to a tubular packaging sleeve based on cellulose hydrate, which has a fibrous insert in its wall, at least some of the fibers forming the insert having at least partially a coating of a mixture of chemical substances, the majority of which is based on chemical binder based of synthetic hydrophilic thermoset resin precondensate and, to a lesser extent, consists of optically active chemical substance; the invention further comprises a method for producing the tubular packaging casings and their use as artificial sausage skin.
