1. An indirectly controlled exchange system comprising time channel connection paths which extend via time channel couplers (TSU, TSU1 ... TSUm), in particular a telephone exchange system, wherein decentral time channel couplers (TSU, ...) and decentral control units (GP) assigned thereto and at least one central switching network (SN) and at least one central control unit (CP) assigned thereto cooperate in the handling of exchange procedures which serve for the establishment of communications connections, and wherein a group of channels which serve to establish dialled connections for communications transmission is arranged between the central switching network (SN) and each of the decentral time channel couplers (TSU, ...), and wherein one of the channels within a group is in each case used as signalling channel for the exchange of control signals which takes place for the establishment of and during the maintenance of these connections, characterised in that control paths which serve to control each of the decentral control units (GP) by means of the central control unit (CP) and which are provided in respect of every decentral control unit (GP) likewise extend via one channel within the group which is assigned to the decentral control unit (GP) in question, and that these control paths likewise extend via the decentral time channel couplers (TSU, ...) which serve to establish communications connections and across the central switching network (SN), and with the aid of the central control unit (CP), the decentral control units (GP), and coupler control units (SESC, SGC) assigned to the time channel couplers (TSU, TSU1 ... TSUm) are constantly kept in the switched through state.
