COAL GASIFICATION PLANT COMPRISING A HYDROGENATION AND VAPOUR GASIFIER.

The installation for gasification of coal into methane consists of a hydrogenation gasifier (3), a steam gasifier (4), a conversion device (9) and fractionation (12). The coal is first introduced into the steam gasifier in which the total gasification takes place. The gas produced then is fed continuously into the hydrogenation gasifier, however, in order to obtain a better degree of gasification, the upper partial pressure in the gas stream will be adjusted so that the hydrogen coming from operation can to be returned to the hydrogenation gasifier. Several possibilities are proposed for combining such an installation with a nuclear reactor (13) which, in order to save coal, will provide the heat necessary for the operation of the process, for example by supplying the steam necessary for the gasification of the steam.
