Method for the early recognition, localisation and control of stored-product pests, and device for carrying out the method

A pheromone in vaporisable form (as bait), if appropriate in a combination with insecticides and/or pathogens, is accommodated in a carrier and arranged in immediate vicinity of a trap used for destroying or trapping the insect pests. The bait/trap combination is placed at the site of application, and the amount of destroyed or trapped insect pests is determined at certain time intervals. Once there is positive evidence, the bait/trap combination is laid out purposefully and routinely and renewed. A device suitable for this purpose shows a carrier material for accommodating the bait and a trap arranged in immediate vicinity for destroying or trapping the said pests. The bait used is preferably the female moth pheromone (Z, E)-9,12-tetradecadienyl acetate, and the trap used is an adhesive tape in the form of commercially available fly paper. The method and the device allow the control of stored-product pests in a particularly simple, economical, highly efficient and entirely harmless manner.
