In order to meet the high safety requirements in nuclear engineering, the nozzle areas of a reactor pressure vessel are tested by means of ultrasonic waves. In order to be able to carry out the volumetric testing of all nozzle areas, an angle test head (3) executes a constant rotary movement with a radius of rotation of "r" about the axis of the rod (22). At the same time, the angle test head is rotated about the normal (33) to the specimen. Mounted on the free end of the shaft (45) is a universal joint to which the angle test head (3) is connected. The angle test head is pressed with a constant force against the specimen via the shaft (45), which can be moved vertically by means of a compression spring (31). The shaft (45) can be rotated in two directions by an actuator (47) arranged in the telescopic tube (48), with the result that the angle test head (3) is likewise rotated about the normal (33) to the specimen by the universal joint (32).
