The inflatable escape chute for aircraft has a main, generally rectangular, inflated track portion with transverse ribs, also inflatable, tensioning a stretching-web. The track comprises five longitudinal tubes: two (72, 74) of large dia. along the edges, two (78, 80) of smaller dia. inside these and a central one which increases in dia. from the smaller to the larger over the upper half-length of the chute. The slid-over surfaces have an overlay (82, 84) whose coefficient of friction may vary along its length.
