Servo-operated in process gauging - for sheet metal bending presses

The press is equipped wiht in-process gauging consisting of two gauges disposed in front and two behind the press tooling. The gauges are mounted on slides and are connected by means of a chain drive with double acting cylinders actuated by a compressed fluid. The cylinders in front of the tooling act together forming part of a servo system as do those at the rear. The direction of motion of the slides is determined by fluid pressure differentials in the cylinders. A control desk is provided for the setting of the gauge in sequence with consecutive operation, the actual working cycles also being effected at the same time. The press may be used for different work cycles without the need for manual fitting of stops etc.
