The gain control device, for a parametric amplifier, has a transformer between the amplifier's diode and e.g. the circulator. The section of line (Z1) remote from the diode has its wave impedance altered by changing the diameter of its outer conductor (1). - This section of line consists of a metal sheet (3) curved into a sleeve with overlapping edges. The advantage lies in being able to vary gain continuously in a simple manner without replacing components.
