Pulse doppler radar with optimum clock frequency jump-initiation - makes jump when radar to target distance has changed by multiple of distance to blind zone
The pulse doppler radar appts. has distance and speed discriminators, the outputs of one or both of which are used to control the radar clock frequency. The control is achieved using a loop contg. a transmitter, the target, the transit times or doppler shifts for distance or speed measurements respectively, and a receiver. - To limit the clock frequency range clock frequency jumps are used. The instant of initiation of a clock pulse jump is selected to be when the target distance has varied by an integral multiple of the unambiguous distance. Determination of distance change may be made by integrating the approach speed, the integration being restarted at each clock frequency jump.
