The operational air gap in the vibrator can be altered by the position of the armature (24) of the exciter magnet on its supporting part. A rubber elastic intermediate layer (34) is provided as the additional spring between the armature (24) and the associated mass (14). This intermediate layer is pref. set between at least two set screws (30) so that, when compressed, its edge comes to rest against the screws ensuring an automatic locking of the screws in the set position. The air gap can be adjusted even when the vibrator is in operation.
