Mercury removal of gases - by absorption onto sulphur containing activated charcoal

Hg removal from gases, esp. combustion gases obtd. by roasting sulphide ores, by passing through =1 columns ctg. charcoal with inter-capillary deposited S. The absorption material is made by passing SO2, H2S or H2S followed by SO3 (or vice-versa) through active charcoal. The column has pref. temp. 10-50 degrees C, and opt. gas stream to avoid moisture deposition. Gases pref. have dust extracted before passing through columns. The charcoal can contain =12% Hg.
