Methylene chloride stabilisation - by incorporating propylene oxide, butylene oxide and opt alkanol

Oxidn. and metal catalysed decompsn. of CH2Cl2 are inhibited by incorporating 0.01-2 (0.1) wt.% propylene oxide and 0.01-2 (.1) wt.% butylene oxide and pref. also 0.1-10 (0.2-1) wt.% 1-4C alkanol, esp. MeOH. CH2Cl2 is a solvent for oils, fats, waxes, tars bituminous materials, rubber, resin, varnishes and is used as cleaning agents, esp. at b.pt. and in vapour-phase. Stabilisation prevents damage to metal installations through acids generated.
