The deicer is used for deicing the primary heat exchanger of a room heating system with a heat pump. The primary heat exchanger is loaded by the ambient air and by the waste air from the room. The waste air is supplied to the primary heat exchanger at selected time periods only, while the secondary heat exchanger is loaded only with the room air and at the selected times with the ambient air corresponding to the waste air flow rate. The outlet duct runs along with air duct through a number of rooms. The air duct is connected to heat exchangers in the rooms.
