The disc brake system has a support for the brake linkage which also includes the brake pads. The support system is accommodated into a cut-out of the side plate of the vehicle. The actuating linkage can be fitted in advance into the vehicle and it is readily dismantled and adjusted. The brake linkage is at a sufficiently high level over the rail to prevent entry of dirt and the disc brake actuating cylinder is arranged outside the wheel. The brake system linkage is held by a support member. The horizontal cylinder actuates the pivoted links which are on a horizontal plane and which actuate the brake disc. This disc exerts braking pressure on the surface of the wheel web.
