Equipment for controlling tension stresses in which the driving moment of the drive on the roller shaft is either directly or indirectly measured and subsequently corrected inside a control circuit. In the transmission between the drive (12, 22) and the roller shaft (11) is mounted a moment-pendulum system (12a, 13, 23, 24, 25) which is subjected to the reaction moment of the drive (12, 22) and to a predetermined moment. The difference between the reaction moment and the predetermined moment is fed in a form of a differential signal to activating link of the control circuit. The pendulum system is a motor (12) with rotatable stator (12a) which is subjected to the predetermined moment in opposite direction to the action of the reaction moment.
