Retaining mechanism fixes unit to U-rail - using flexible metal strip between snap-on locking piece and rail lip for easy mounting

The retaining mechanism, for fixing an electronic/electrical unit to a U-shaped support rail, consists of a spring-loaded plastic locking piece whose end is wedge shaped to slide over and locate under the outward overhanging lip of the C-shaped rail. To ensure that the unit can be clipped into place easily without the aid of tools, the wedge end of the plastic piece has a sliding strip (10) situated between the lip (9) of the rail and the wedge of the plastic piece. The strip is flexible and provides a smooth surface for the lip edge to ridge over. One end of the strip is held rigidly in a slot behind the wedge.
