The text processing device is for enabling display of a multiple character text using a function keyboard for input of characters and operational instructions, a control unit for instruction generation, and a position keyboard for predefined text location using a movable marker is designed to enable a number of operating instructions to be used without increasing the usual number of function or positional keys. A circuit stage store the binary coded addresses of the display boundaries associated with a part of the text under process, and generates signals identifying the characters of the text and control signals enabling instruction operations to a control unit. Control signals are enabled when the boundary addresses and a character position address coincide.
