The plough (1) carries a hinged guide (3) through which the cable (8) is fed into the cut furrow. The plough also carries a small laterally projecting cutter (6) which incorporates the feed for the warning tape (7). The cutter makes a small groove in the side of the furrow into which the tape is inserted as the plough is pulled along. A boss (9) on the side of the cable guide (3), and in line with the cutter (6), ensures that the tape is held in position in the earth until the cable is in the bottom of the furrow. The arrangement ensures that the tape does not fall into the bottom of the furrow under the cable, which is especially likely when rounding corners. The slight vertical displacement between cable and tape is not regarded as dangerous.
