Pref. the cloth is a double weave cloth in which the supporting fabric has a coarser mesh but has a greater resistance to bending than the filtering fabric. Filtering and supporting fabrics of the double weave cloth can be interconnected by interlocking stitches or warp yarns. Filtering and supporting fabrics can have the same or different weaving pattern e.g., canvas or twill cotton weave. Pref. filtering fabric may be woven from polypropylene fibre yarn and the supporting fabric may be woven from monofil polypropylene yarns having a thickness of from 0.2-0.8 mm (.4 mm). Filter cloth with supporting fabric facing the filtrate increases the efficiency of filtering.
