The electrode for the anodic protection of the inner wall of vessels used for electroless Ni plating baths, comprises a rod with a jacket which is insulated from the rod by a plug of insulating material, and which is short-circuited to the vessel. The surface of the rod at the open end, which comes into contact with the Ni soln., is coated with a Ni-P layer, and is considerably smaller than the internal surface of the vessel. The opposite, closed end of the rod is located inside the jacket. Pref. a liner of insulating material is positioned between jacket and the closed end of the rod. The rod is linked electrically to an electric potential control.
