An electric signals transformer is for electrocardiographs. It has primary and secondary windings and is designed to reduce capacitive coupling between the primary and secondary sides of the transformer, and thus to prevent so called leakage currents arising, by technically simple means. A compensation voltage generator is provided to compensate the leakage currents caused by stray capacitances, and generates an antiphase compensation current in conjunction with an extra coupling capacitor. The compensation voltage generator is selectively arranged in the primary or secondary circuit, and more specif. the compensation voltage is produced in the primary or secondary circuit electronically, e.g. by means of a separate phase-controlled, voltage oscillator, or by means of phase-shifter networks, from the primary voltage.
