The adjuster facilities the after grinding of step drills on a twist drill grinding machine with an adjustable grinding block which guides the drill along the grinding disc. The drill is held in a drill holder in the grinding block by means of an enclosing tensioning bush. The drill holder can be turned with the drill in the block which can be moved with respect to an adjusting line which limits the drill feed. A device which adjusts the desired step height (e) can be connected between drill holder (14) and grinding block (9) or grinding block (9) and machine frame. The drill holder (14) or grinding block (9) with the step on the drill can be moved up a line. There is an indication scale on the drill holder and/or on the grinding block for reading off and adjusting the step height.
