Activated sludge system of sewage treatment - with high-duty basin between buffer basin and oxidation trench

A sewage treatment system based on the activated sludge principle consisting of a buffer basin with an aerator, an oxidation trench with an aerator, and a final clarification basin has been modified in order to avoid the troublesome production of excess sludge. A high-duty basin with an extra aerator is now arranged between buffer basin and oxidation trench. The sludge recycling from the final clarification basin is now directed in the high-duty basin where a fine distributor is situated for the recycled sludge, and a fine distributor for the run-off from the buffer basin.
