摘要
Panel with embossed face and a core contg. an inorganic material is produced in a press with heated platens. The core is bonded by thermosetting polymer and at least on the embossed surface of the plate there is a layer of synthetic material. The press platens form the negative mould for the surfaces of the finished plate, and a film of thermoplastic material is laid against =1 of these. Between the two films, or if there is only one film between the film and the other platen a filling or a blank is inserted. This inorganic material consist in part of an expanded material, and it contains the permanently setting resin. The whole is hot pressed and the film bonds to the core. The thermoplastic film has deep drawing characteristics and is pref. of PVC or of polyamide. The inorganic material consists mainly of inflated vermiculite. To facilitate the escape of the volatile components from the blank during pressing, a fine mesh gauze may be fitted to the platen against the non-decorative face of the moulding. Process yields a prod. the process for which is very economical so that mfg. costs per plate are very low. Very fine surface structures can be created and the plate is practically entirely in combustible.
