Powered radially and spatially manoevered clamping shoes are secured by ball and socket joint to the radially free support so that the joint centre lies on or outside the walling. Springs (5, 8) between the shoes (1) and support (3) stabilise the shoes in all directions. A leaf spring (5) mounted to the support thrusts against the free ends of the shoes via n interposed tensile and/or compression spring (8) acting at right angles to the leaf spring itself. Two parallel leaf springs can be used symmetrically arranged on the support. Guides (10) are placed between their ends either side and can move in a bearing block (15) at right angles to the leaf springs, against the effect of the springs (8).
