The support unit, pref. made of concrete and partially enclosing a hollow space, is part of a sloping surface for consolidation and planting, pref. serving as wall affording protection from noise. This involves part (1, 2) of a divided hollow cylinder (3), with one end wholly or partially terminated by a base (4). The sheathing lines of every part may run parallel to its sides (8-11), or may be inclined, running at an angle to the planes established by the ends. There may be continuous grooves in the outer or inner sheathing surfaces, parallel to the ends. The units are easy to manufacture and are easy to build into position.
