A steelwire-reinforced rubber pipe, 100m. long with a dia. over 200mm. used in marine engine ring for e.g. mineral oils or natural gas, comprises a rubber-lined tube woven from very strong textile fibres, which has been filled with liq. under pressure, and is coated with a first rubber layer. Over this, a ply of parallel textile fibres, subtending an angle with the axis of the pipe, is applied which is then coated with a second rubber layer. A further textile-fibre ply is applied at right angles to the 1st and this is finally coated with a third rubber layer, followed by simultaneous vulcanisation of the rubber lining and all the coatings.
