The earthing system, for providing an equipment or system earthed for single- and poly-phase networks, has a fault-current protection circuit, and a protective resistor in series with the earth line leading to each load. The magnitudes of the protective resistors are related by a specified equation to the earth line's resistance to earth and the related fault current of the breaker. The power rating of the resistors is at least equal to the power resulting from the leakage currents.
