Onion cutter with six radial blades - cuts half onions into six equal sectors, with cutter and circular bar sliding in tubular guide

When onions are used in cooking they are usually cut in circular slices which tend to break up easily when being prepared. A special onion cutter avoids this difficulty by cutting half onions along radial lines into sections. The half onion(12) is placed on the base(3) of the cutter and a circular bar(34) which slides in a tubular guide(35) is pushed downwards to eject the core(19) of the onion(12). A cutter(4) with six radial blades which slides on the outside of the tubular guide(35) is then pushed downwards and cuts the half onion(12) in six sectors.
