A control criterion is derived from comparison of the oscillator with a quartz frequency. The oscillator frequency is stepped down to a lower level by division by tunnel diodes. The frequency divider consists of a first tunnel diode generator whose resonant circuit consists of the diode capacitance in parallel with an inductance consisting of a line section, and a series low resistance resistor. A second tunnel diode generator has a parallel LC circuit.
