The ridge tile, rounded in cross section, has ventilating apertures, and covering fold areas at both ends, for interlocking and overlap with adjacent tiles. It combines effective ventilation with proofing against driving rain, snow or dust. The fold area (12) with an upward protruding rib (14) is offset downward from the rest of the surface. There is an additional lower cross rib (15) at the end, so as to provide a cross channel (16) between ribs (13, 14, 15) when tiles (10) are covered, connected to the roof interior across a gap (17). At the overlap (11) there are two humps (18) on the outside, incorporating venting apertures (20) which open into the cross channel.
