A cylinder core is rotatably mounted in a cylinder housing unit, in the lock cylinder which passes through the opening in an ironmongery plate on a door. For enhanced security, a part section (13) of the housing (G) is set back in a stopped configuration, in relation to the annular piece (10) enclosing the cylinder core (11), and covered by a sidewall (14) of the ironmongery shield plate. The step height pref. matches the sidewall thickness, which is less than that of the rest of the plate surface with a profile cylinder (1)m the whole profile flange (9) may be in stepped shape. The simple construction makes it much more difficult for an intruder to break or tear the lock cylinder out.
