Plate filter press is formed from a series of parallel plates held together by hydraulic ram. Around the plates is a continuous filter belt and this is connected to a principle drive motor which allows coke discharge when the plates are separated. The cloth has two or more auxiliary drives mounted at intervals down the plate pack. All the drive motors are hydraulic from a common hydraulic supply. However the supplies to the auxiliary motors are connected in parallel so that they can be individually speed controlled. The motors are directly coupled to the guide rolls. Used for filtering slurries the appts. exactly uniform speeds to be set up for the filter belt.
