Blade for metal shaving machine tool - has inclined contour formed in two stages to reduce risk of fracture

The metal shaving machine tool with a rotating head has a double sided blade (1) which cuts a thin shaving from the shaft (2). Each side of the blade has a secondary cutting edge (3, 4) and a main cutting edge (6-9) so that each side of the blade is of identical contour. The cutting edge (6) is inclined at an angle of 5 deg. to 17 deg. w.r.t. the edges (3) whist the edge (7) is inclined at an angle of 18 deg. to 45 deg. w.r.t. the edge. The contour of the cutting edges is less susceptible to fracture when being used.
