Separator plate system for isotope separation - having jet separation foil package mounted between plates in rectangular housing

Gaseous isotopes are sepd. by separation jets mounted between plates inside a square housing. The inlet for the gas is from one side of the plate and the heavier fraction passes straight through. The lighter fraction is drawn off into passages which run at right angles to the main gas flow. The rectangular housing has a number of separator plates mounted inside one housing. This achieves by a series of joints to give the effect of folds. The plates are formed from grooved and drilled sheets rivetted together. For separating isotopes in gaseous phase esp. U isotopes. Gives a system with reduced space and material of construction requirement.
