摘要
Raney Ni electrode for galvanic cell, in which the Raney Ni acts as catalyst during operation, is produced by coating a conductive supporting skeleton with powdered Ni-Al alloy, which can also contain 0-50 wt. % Ni powder and opt. other activators, and bonding the skeleton with the powder, after temporary fixing with a binder, by electroplating with Ni from a weakly acid Ni plating bath. Electrodes of this type are useful for electrochemical reactions of H2, e.g. anodic oxidn. of H2 in H2/O2 fuel cells and cathodic prodn. of H2. The formation of NiAl, which cannot be activated by alkali, is avoided, since no sintering stage is necessary, and there are no size limitations, as in the case of the pressing and sintering process.
