Non-rotating slide ring seal - has ring located and sealed in chamber by O=rings around it for vibration absorption

The slide ring seal is for sealing the shaft entry of a pressure or vacuum container. It comprises a non-rotating slide ring (1) which is held in a chamber (8) by a number of O-rings (2), pref. two O-rings, to absorb vibration, seal the ring (1) and prevent its rotation. The ring may axially engage a counter-ring (4), both rings being symmetrically shaped and lapped on both faces so that they can be assembled in two positions, thus doubling their effective life. The principle may be used to produce a double-acting seal.
