A cloth placing carriage movable on the table at running speed with wheels moving on the table driven by a drive motor. There is =1 draw-off roller located on the placing carriage which draws off the cloth from a bale at draw-off speed which is also motor driven. The machine includes an indicator device which signals the relation of draw-off speed to running speed. The relation shown on the indicator is based on values obtd. from first and second measuring units for draw-off and running speeds respectively.
