The butterfly valve disc seal comprises two sealing elements, each of which consists of a one-piece round profile. The elements engage one another concentrically, one carried on the disc and the other in the housing. Each element comprises a clamping portion by which it is secured to the disc or housing, connected by a resilient portion to a floating portion, the floating portions being in sealing engagement when the disc is in the closed position. The elements are preferably under tension when in sealing engagement. The sealing faces of the elements may be inclined.
