Lightweight, sure-grip elastomeric sole for sports footwear - has integral studs in cross-and oblique-row pattern on running surface

The studs are arranged in oblique rows and subtend an acute angle, pref. 50-70 degrees, with the surface of the sole. The pattern of arrangement of the studs specifically comprises transverse rows (i.e. at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the sole), and oblique rows which are at an angle of 30 - 60 degrees w.r.t. that axis. Each stud is about the same height as its dia.. The sole gives a good 'grip' and has a low tendency to clogging between studs with dirt.
