Oxidn. and sedimentation vessel is divided by an elastic grid zone, which acts as control zone. The vessel is used in the oxidn. of CaSO3, obtd. in scrubbers for removing SO2 from flue gases, e.g. from power stations, to CaSO4. The latter is sepd from the liq which can then be recycled. The danger of agglomeration forming is avoided by the oscillation of the grid in the sepn. zone between the aerated oxidn. zone and the sedimentation zone.
