Credit or identity card carries individual, checkable, random information which can be (machine-) read only in a linear track. The information is formed by a characteristic that is randomly distributed in the track. The track is made of fluorescent material, specifically coarsely granular, magnetic pigments; or it may consist of electrically conductive material. The random information is formed or influenced by random distribution of absorbent and/or scattering surfaces lying in various planes, e.g. by a signature that partly covers the track. The card features a plastics-coated paper fly, the plastics coating contg. material that causes random distribution of absorbent and/or scattering surfaces.
