The automatic switch cuts out under short circuit and over current conditions. It is intended to operate even under abnormal temp. conditions such as in the case of fire outbreak and can be used to ensure emergency power supply for fire extinguishing and for safety purposes. The cut-out is effected by means of a bimetallic strip. A locking bi-metal (19) is included which buckles in the opposite direction to the main bi-metallic strip (18). It buckles much more quickly than the bi-metallic strip under abnormal temperature conditions thereby preventing the bi-metallic strip from being buckled. This locking bi-metal has an angles end (21) in the deflection region of the free end of the bi-metallic strip. The ends of the bi-metallic strip and the drive for the short circuit cut-out are linked to a cut-out shaft (11).
