The switch has a small diameter and incorporates a light emitting diode (1), held in a socket (2) by a snap fastener. The socket is longitudinally slidably mounted in a sleeve (3), located in the front part of an envelope (4) whose middle portion contains a switching element (5). The light emitting diode is held between pairs of inwards protruding lugs (15) and cams (16) of the socket. Preferably the socket front can be spread for the insertion of the diode. The socket may have longitudinal depressions, housing compression springs (7) which form also electric connection between two terminal taps (8) and the diode. Additionally they tend to move the socket with the diode forward up to a stop.
