Rotary IC engine with oval housing inner wall - has circular rotor with three sliding vanes dividing elliptical cylinder into two independent working chambers

The engine has a cylinder with an elliptical inner profile. A circular rotor is mounted centrally in the cylinder and touches the ellipse at the ends of the shorter axis. It divides the cylinder into two chambers. The rotor has three radially sliding vanes which are pressed by springs against the cylinder wall. Each working chamber has an inlet port and an exhausst port. There is a sparking plug in each chamber. The provision of two chambers with three vanes ensures that the engine can start in whatever position it has come to rest in and obviates the need for a flywheel.
