Tyre fatigue test stand - incorporates drum against which tyre is pressed by force of realistic pulsation frequency

A tyre fatigue test stand (1) contains a test drum, against which the type turns on a wheel mounting, and drives for drum and tyre. The tyre is forced radially agains the drum. The normally parallel axes of the tyre and drum may be mutually inclined. The test stand enables the most realistic possible simulation of actual tyre loading and hence tyre wear. The radial force is pulsed. The torque transferred from the type to the drum and the angle between the drum and tyre axes vary in a pulsed manner with pulsation frequencies representative of actual use.
