Overheating in forging billets in induction furnaces is avoided when the furnace throughout is halted or reduced. The billets are pushed through the furnace end to end. At low load, the furnace is controlled to hold the billets at the soak temp. When the load is returned to normal, the pusher speed is increased first. The induction load increase is delayed for a certain period. If the speed increase is say from 25% to 100%, the increase to 100% induction load would be delayed for 10-20% of the inductor length esp. 15%. For use on pusher type forging billet heating furnaces. Avoids overheating after a load reduction with temp. hold condition.
