Paper sheet folding machine - with guide strips between rocking endless belts in stowing section bottom

A machine to fold up large sheets of paper, esp. those produced by drawing copy printing machines, consists of a folding section with reciprocating rolls and a stowing section. The latter has a bottom formed by stationary guide metal strips between which parallel endless as belts are arranged. The ends of these belts away from a common stop are wrapped around return pulleys which can be lifted up by a double-armed lever arrangement. The distance from the stop to the leading edge of the guide strips is less than the minimum width of the first fold. The brush paddles of the following transfer section are made of PTFE. This forms a neatly folded stack, without risk of later damage, ready for transfer by another belt conveyor to a cross folding section.
