Appts. for granulating melt spun plastics tows which are set by cooling medium feeding the tows to a pair of feed rollers disposed at the inlet of a cutting device having a rotary cutting cylinder is arranged for sucking the cooling medium which feeds the tows and discharging it jointly with the granulate from the cutting region. Deflection of tows in front of cutting cylinder and jamming of cutting cylinder are prevented. Granulate is cut normally to tow axis.
