The device tests sections of plastic tubes using a pressure gauge. The differential pressure gauge (5) is connected to the output (2) of a pump (1) generating in the specimen (4) of a uniformly rising pressure, and to a unit (V3, 8) balancing pressure rise at the differential pressure gauge (5). When a limit displayed on the pressure gauge (15) of the pressure rise generated by the pump (1) during each time interval is reached, the pump is switched off. The unit (V3, 8) balancing the pressure in the gauge is controlled by an electronic circuit, and is switched off when the balance is reached. After a specified time interval has elapsed, the pump (1) is switched on again.
